Well it’s that time again, Pepsi seem set to roll out yet another re-brand in response to the economic slowdown continuing “to pressure the North American liquid refreshment beverage category.”
I think that means fizzy drinks… and of course the re-brand has nothing to do with trying to top Coca-Cola’s latest efforts.
Above is Pepsi’s latest image. Personally i think it looks like a range of motor oil and I don’t appear to be alone in my dislike of it. After reading the comments at Creative Review and Brand New, it seems the general consensus is a big thumbs down. Continue reading...

If you love your food and/or live in Sydney you might have heard of the restaurant Tetsuya’s. A few years ago we celebrated my birthday there and thought we might do the same again in a little over a months time.
I expected there to be a wait before a booking was available, Tetsuya’s has won countless awards and is considered one of the best restaurants in Australia, if not anywhere. Hoping for a booking in late March I was told the first available table was in September… a mere 7 month wait. It must still be good, hey?
Tetsuya’s serves a 13 course degustation menu, which changes from night to night. When we dined we received 3 entrees, 6 mains and 5 desserts, and I managed to take a photo of each course. If you love your food or are looking for a special night out in Sydney, read on, hopefully you’ll get to enjoy it as much as I did.
You’ll have to forgive the poor descriptions, they don’t do the courses justice, they’re all I could muster from 5 year old memories. Enjoy.
Entrees

A single oyster in a sweet marinade with chives.

I think the glass on the left was along the lines of bread-pudding with caviar, while the glass on the right was a blood orange dish.

When looking for anything related to logo design you invariably come across a few budget logo design services. Half a dozen logos, unlimited revisions and only a few days turn around time, sounds too good to be true.
Jim walls from 160over90 recently posted his experience experimenting with 1 such service. Nearly a year ( and lots of clipart ) later he’s is still waiting for his logo. Jim has been kind enough to share the entire conversation with his “designer” for a little insight into what can be expected from cheap logo design.
It didn’t work out, who’d have guessed.
Have you ever used a budget logo design service? How did it go?
Speakup and Freelance Switch also have some interesting reading on budget design services if your looking for some more info.

With the thousands of different typefaces available, it’s critical to have a select few that act as the base of your collection. Listed below are dozen popular fonts ( and a little history ) that you’ll find in many designs.
#1 Bembo

Bembo is the name given to an old style serif typeface based upon a face cut by Francesco Griffo, first printed in February 1496 (1495 more veneto).
Griffo worked in the Venetian press of the humanist printer Aldus Manutius. The face was first used in the setting of book entitled De Aetna, a short text about a journey to Mount Aetna written by Italian Cardinal Pietro Bembo.
The typeface would serve as a source of inspiration for typefaces of the Parisian publisher Claude Garamond, that are collectively called Garamond.
The typeface Bembo we see today is a revival designed by Stanley Morison for the Monotype Corporation in 1929. Read more about Bembo.
