For a long time I was convinced that the social network, Twitter, was little more than people yelling into the void. The soul objective of twittering seemed to be building followers only for the sake of having them, typically by following others in the hope they will return the favor despite not having any interest in what they have to say.
After reading plenty of articles by people who apparently make their living via some sort of social network marketing, many of whom seem to focus on Twitter, I decided to sign up and try me hand at tweeting.
I wasn’t surprised to see that many twitter marketers simply spam the same content over and over to reach there potential customers, which isn’t something I particularly fancy spending my time doing, but after a month or so of aggressively recruiting around 5000 followers I sent out a single stream of tweets pointing potential readers to 100 or so of my blog posts. I was surprised…
The following day I was contacted regarding a design project for a potential client who found me via, you guessed it, Twitter. Only time will tell if Twitter will yield some continual business, but I can’t argue with the initial results.

Located in Sydney, Frans cafe specializes in organic food and healthy snacks. A clean, fresh logo was desired to promote the healthy lifestyle Fran subscribes to and promotes through her family business.
Being a cafe, obviously coffee came to mind when developing logo ideas. In the end these options were set aside as natural food and health is Frans focus. The above clean, modern logotype was chosen with a simple sprig to better represent the overall feel of Frans.
As always, here is a page of alternate ideas explored.

a : leaf as “cup” and saucer.
b : torn leaf for F of frans.
c,d : flower / leaf used in place of a.
e,f,g : growing plant used as a letter
h,i : a leaf used as steam from coffee cup.
j : the negative space from curls of steam creating a leaf.
What do you think?
Comments are welcome as always.

So you have a bold colourful logo design and you display it with pride. Your logo also works well in black and white, as every logo should.
I believe a logo needs to work beyond these simple applications. A good logo must work, as apple strudel.
I’m joking obviously. Seriously though, give me a free hour and this is what you get, my personal logo stuffed full of apple and wrapped in pastry. I’ll admit the grey pastry doesn’t look terribly appealing but I promise it tasted good.
Yummy.
Have you used your logo anywhere fun that you’d like to share? Or maybe you can suggest a new hobby for me…

Double entendre’s, sexual innuendo, losses in translation and sign malfunctions, logo design has it all.
Here’s a little collection of logo blunders from across the internet starting with this little gem. Mammoth erection. If you’ve got it flaunt it.

I have no idea what Genocide does, I’m thinking… eco-friendly clothes for all your genocidal needs. Complex in their simplicity apparently…

Bill Buttram might have been doomed from the start.
