New Opera logo design gets some attention to detail

.

old opera logo

Looking at the original Opera Software logo, it doesn’t take a seasoned designer to see there’s plenty wrong with it. Kinks and dents, as well as problems with lighting and shadows everywhere.

With the release of version 10 of their browser, Opera have shied away from the glossy veneer of web 2.0 and opted for a simpler ( and error free… ) design.

new opera logo

The new logo is simpler 3 dimensionally, sports only a mild gradient and has dropped the ridiculous shadow. A little extra time spent the first time around might have ended here in the first place.

What do you think?

The new logo is obviously much better, it just goes to show the simplest designs work best.
